Essential Oils are very popular these days - either using them as a purchased product or (as is happening more and more often) by Extracting them yourself.

As the most common form of Essential Oil Extraction is the Distillation of Essential Oils, it was only a matter of time before Distillique ventured along this route as well. 

We now offer not only Training in Essential Oils and Extraction Techniques, but we stock and sell various different types of Extraction Equipment used for Essential Oils and other Compounds.

What do I use to extract Essential Oils and other Compounds? 

1. Essential Oil Stills are used for the standard extraction of Essential Oils through Distillation, using either ethanol or water as a base depending on the Solvency Characteristics of the Oil in question. Distillation is followed by Separation in order to separate the Oil from the Hydrosol.
2. Soxhlet Extraction is used to extract the purified Essence (sometimes called The Pure) of a Botanical - it is a more time-consuming process, also with two stages, and it always uses a Solvent to do the Extraction. The actual Soxhlet Extraction is followed by Solvent removal to leave The Pure behind.
3. Butane Extraction is a quick, easy and cheap way to achieve Cold Extraction - especially important with Thermo Sensitive Botanicals, where certain compounds break down under the application of heat.
4. Vacuum Extraction is a more time-consuming and expensive way to deal with Thermo Sensitive Botanicals, but depending on the type of equipment used it can allow you to process much more Botanicals at a time, and it also allows you to incorporate different Extraction methods into one process.
5. Pressing or Expression is the Mechanical Extraction of Essential Oils from Raw Material.
