Umqombothi, from the Xhosa language, is a beer made from maize, maize malt, sorghum malt, yeast and water. It is commonly found in South Africa. It is very rich in Vitamin B. The beer has a heavy and distinctly sour aroma. The beer does not have a very high alcohol content, usually less than 3%. In appearance, the beer is opaque and light tan in colour. It has a thick, creamy and gritty consistency (from the maize).

Most of us have not been taught aroma descriptors, or aroma names, while we were kids, but all of us have been taught colours, and we easily agree on what is green, red or blue. The same is not (yet) true for aromas.
A riveted copper pot is beautiful to look at and will give you many years of enjoyable distilling hours. However, as copper contracts and expands quite a lot with temperature changes it sometimes (but seldom) may cause leaking around seams and copper riveted joins that have not been soldered.
